Next week I’ll be releasing an episode on noted gunman Johnny Ringo and his mysterious death. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, Johnny participated in the Hoodoo War in Texas before aligning himself with the Cochise County Cowboys in Arizona.
We’ll go over all the gritty details on the podcast, but I thought I’d share a photo with you.
Ringo’s lifeless body was found on a flat rock that had been placed in the bough of a large tree. His boots (and horse) were missing, as was a piece of his hair, and his cartridge belt was upside down. While the official cause of death was ruled as a suicide, there are many who believe Ringo was murdered.
Decades later Billy Breakenridge (likely the last person to see Ringo alive) visited the site and had his picture taken in the infamous tree.
Pretty weird photo, right? But did you see it?
Look a little closer, just above Billy’s head.
Creepy, huh? While I’m sure this is just a distortion caused by the film being developed, it kind of makes you wonder if Johnny was trying to tell Breckenridge something!
I’ll catch you tomorrow. Adios.
Why that distortion looks like somebody just walked over it's grave . Definitely an interesting picture Josh . 🤠👍👍
That looks like a copy of a copy of a copy of the original photo. Back in the old days, you didn't take the original plate (if it was a glass plate or a tintype) which were super detailed if focused, and make a copy, you literally took a picture of the picture or the carte de visite print, so each time it got worse and worse, and then those photographs were printed in books, which further degraded quality by the way old school books were printed. If you could get back to the original it would be sharp as a tack, probably.
